Did you miss him in January? If you have not yet heard Grant Peeples, now is your chance to enjoy his music and commentary. His is a clean, but brooding American sound from a finger-in-your-eye songwriter. A biting, edgy, irreverent southern leftneck, articulate twang, thinking-man's songs. Environmental and socio-political themes. He calls his music “alternative southern” or “outlaw country” – whatever it is, it is implicitly political, cultural and relevant. It’s all sung with Peeples’ commanding, seasoned voice. It’s a rough, edgy voice that works like a bucksaw on his recurrent themes of poverty, class struggle, hypocrisy and environmental ruin. From one song to the next, the mood shifts quickly from dark to comedic and back again.
His recently released 2nd CD Pawnshop has gotten major play time in this country and increasingly around the world. In fact, in May Grant has a gig in Scotland. And just before he appears at the Dixie, he will share the stage with Gurf Morlix in Austin, Texas.
"Grant is a master songwriter, using words like a Kerouac-style novelist." - The Florida Times Union
"Americana/country musician Grant Peeples is a storyteller - a modern-day minstrel in a baseball cap." - The Tallahassee Democrat

"Grant is on a roll here, painting evocative pictures of the new American landscape. Writers like this are hard to come by." - singer, songwriter, producer Bobby Braddock
"This guys sounds like (John) Prine, but with a southern bent". - Gurf Molix
This trip Grant brings a folk-rock group with him called The New 76ers. In one person's words, they "stole the show" at a recent Bob Dylan night in Tallahassee. Bathed in southern musical heritage, their music will move you physically and spiritually. The group will open the show with a tribute to Bob Dylan, and then be joined on the stage by Grant and will spend the next 90 minutes performing together. Don’t miss your chance to hear this brilliant, "outlaw country" songwriter and performer appear with this exciting group.
"Last week-end I went to hear the Mayhaws at the Warehouse. The surprise opening act was the New 76ers who were standing in front of the stage, nothing plugged in, no mic, and they owned the room." - Jim Crozier

"Now I’m thinking to myself boy this is really good. My wife leaned over and whispered, “This is really good.” It was settled, at least in my marriage, The New 76ers were really good.” -Darren O’Dell: A Concert Review of The New 76ers at Bob Night, American Legion Hall – Tallahassee, FL, 4.24.09
Margo's sense of humor and down-home country dialog with the audience as she sings the hit songs of one of the most beloved female country artists of all time is sure to warm the hearts and bring smiles to the faces to all.
